Beneteau actually built two 40.7 models. The IMS 40.7 came out
in 1993. The completely different First 40.7 came out in 1999. IMS says that the
IMS 40.7 is about 45 seconds per mile faster than the First 40.7. The standard
rig in the First 40.7 has two sets of spreaders. A triple spreader, racing rig
is an option. The shallow draft First 40.7 keel is all iron. The standard keel
has a lead bulb.
